Jacobite flags of the ‘45 rising- Stuart banner 1745-46
This is a replicated linen banner depicting a Stuart flag that was carried in the ‘45 by John Roy Stuart’s regiment.
Captured at Culloden by Munro’s 37th foot and descriptions survive on a receipt given for them by a Major Hu Wentworth of the 6th foot on 11th May 1746.
Probably one of the jacobite standards that were burned by the public hangmen, John Dalglish at the Merkat Cross in Edinburgh on Wednesday 4th June 1746.
A magnificent colour depicting the Stuart arms supported by two unicorns guarding the lion rampant and St. Andrew saltire.
