The historic city of Stirling brings to you, our first ever yarn fayre!
BannockYarn will showcase some of Scotland’s finest yarn suppliers from the home of tartan, Bannockburn House.
This event is proudly brought to you in association with Coorie Creative, a local weaving and crafting charity formed to help people who are socially isolated or have experienced trauma or loss.
Our magnificient 17th century mansion was once home to master tartan weavers the Wilsons of Bannockburn – who are famed for the invention of the clan tartans.
This weekend (6-7 August) we’ll be joined by 25 of the country’s best sellers of yarn and accessories for you to browse and buy. We’ll also have:
- Prosecco & Cocktails
- Waffles & Coffees
- Gourmet Treats
- Guided House Tours
- Space to knit and chat
All within our beautiful grounds. As well as the chance to peruse a special selection of Bannockburn House merchandise from our famous handmade blue bonnets and tartan bags to our own house honey and jute bags. By buying a ticket you’ll be supporting the regeneration of Bannockburn House and Gardens, a community owned and volunteer run project.
With our VIP ticket, you not only get access to the event an hour earlier (from 10am). You will also receive a “BannockYarn Jute bag” and an official pin badge upon arrival.Our main ticket will get you access to the event from 11am and you can stay all day. We are also offering a discounted ticket, which will give you late access to the event from 2pm. A perfect opportunity to pick up a bargain at the end of the day.Please have your QR code from your online ticket either on your phone or printed out upon your arrival to ensure we can check you in as quickly as possible on the day.
Guided Tours of Bannockburn House
We are also offering House tours this weekend, run by our expert team of volunteers. Discover Bannockburn House’s connections to the tartan industry and to Bonnie Prince Charlie. Tours will run throughout the weekend and can be booked as an optional extra with your ticket for £5. Spaces are limited so be sure to book fast to avoid disappointment.
Car Park & Shuttle Service
As there isn’t sufficient parking on site for this event, we will be offering a free park and ride service that will take you directly to Bannockburn House.With great thanks to a lovely local couple, who are giving us access to a large area of hardstanding located across the road from Stirling Crematorium:147 Falkirk Road, Bannockburn, Stirling, FK7 8AJThe shuttle bus will be running throughout the day on both Saturday and Sunday; with a transfer time of less than 5 minutes.
We will have road signs & volunteer stewards to direct you where to park on the day.
The majority of the event will be happening on ground level with the house and the lawns of Bannockburn House’s gardens. These areas including the toilets are all accessible by wheelchair.Guided tours of Bannockburn House will be on the first floor of the house, which is only accessible by stairs.
